We enjoy showing off our beautiful Havana Browns at local, regional and national cat shows but when at home they are our pets.

KITTENS
A few Havana kittens will be available each year but most are quickly spoken for and many are promised to other breeders before they are even born. As rare as the Havana Brown is, it is unusual to find available kittens on short notice, although not impossible. On our resources page you will find links to other Havana Brown breeders. Unfortunately, there are not many catteries actively breeding the Havana Brown and even fewer who have more than a couple of litters a year. Most reputable breeders work together to ensure their kittens go to the best homes possible, so don't hesitate to ask that your information be shared if you are looking for a kitten.

If you have decided that this is the breed for you, have researched your breeders and found someone that you are comfortable working with, you should put your name on a list for an upcoming kitten.  Most breeders will gladly add you to a 'Notify List' to let you know when they have kittens available. There is not typically a charge for this although some breeders will take a reservation fee. However, once a litter is born and you have confirmed you want a kitten from that litter, you will normally be required to make a deposit. Most breeders will require deposits of 25%-50% of the price of the kitten.

Kitten prices are different throughout the country and what is included with the price of a kitten may also vary.  A spayed/neutered kitten going to a pet home may vary in price from $500-$1500.  The primary factors determining price are location (NYC vs. rural Iowa) and Pedigree. Some breeders charge a flat fee for kittens but add the cost of the spay/neuter, immunizations, other vet care, shipping/transportation, crates, kitten kits, etc. Make sure you know what you are paying for in advance and make sure you get a contract stating such. Beware of backyard breeders. Although not common in this breed, they are out there. Ask for references from other breeders. A good breeder will gladly provide you with references regarding their standing as a breeder as well as the health of the kittens from their Cattery.

Pet kittens from ComposerCat Cattery are $1200. All ComposerCat kittens come from Grand Champion lines with Regional and National winners in their pedigree. This price includes all kitten vet care, health certificate, Vaccines/immunizations, Micro-chipping, spay or neuter, travel crate and kitten care kit as well as delivery to their new home within 200 miles of the NYC area.

Our kittens are socialized with our adult cats as well as our dog. They are a breed which adapts easily to most any situation however they do not like to be left alone for extended periods. If you do not have time to devote to entertaining a kitten you may want to consider a less interactive breed. Additionally, most cats like having a companion and Havana's typically get along well with other cats and are well received by the family dog - although a period of adjustment will be necessary. If possible, we recommend that all of our kittens have another companion animal at home if the owners work or are frequently away from home.
